Twelve Oaks Mall is opening today for the first time since late March. There will be some noticeable changes which include no seating in the food court and maybe one-third of the stores being ready for customers. Shoppers will also be told to wear masks while inside the mall. A pertinent question however, is who will enforce having customers wear masks? Governor Whitmer has ordered people to wear face coverings while inside retail shops, however the order still comes without criminal penalty. Essentially it will be up to the retailer by simply refusing service. There will be plenty of signs and reminders posted throughout the mall. There has however been a lot of push-back from some customers about having to wear masks inside shops, and this could lead to unwelcome friction between store employees and potential shoppers.
