Dr. Harold A. Furlong: Humanitarian and MI’s only official WWI Medal of Honor Recipient
Dr. Harold A. Furlong was Michigan’s only official World War I Medal of Honor recipient. After World War I Harold Furlong became a prominent Pontiac doctor and a promoter of the arts. He and his wife, Frances, established the Pontiac Creative Arts Center in the old Pontiac Library building. Dr. Furlong was a great humanitarian who put service above self as his gift to mankind through military service, medicine, and the arts.
