Jewish Family Service will highlight the agency’s longstanding history of serving the community through vital services in the areas of mental health and wellness, safety net, and older adults. The evening will feature Jeannette Walls, bestselling author of The Glass Castle, a memoir recounting her experiences growing up in extreme poverty. Jeannette’s family foraged for food, lived without heat, and experienced numerous hardships as the result of her father’s alcoholism and both her parents’ mental illness. But her resilience allowed Walls to overcome her upbringing and become a successful journalist.
