CCT Classics – Michigan Week History, An Interview with Pastor Jack Freed and Jeff Leib
Pastor Jack Freed and Jeff Leib sat down to discuss the history and tradition of Michigan Week in Greater West Bloomfield.
In 1954, the very first Michigan Week was celebrated with the tagline “This is YOUR Michigan” and 18 years later, Dr. Anthony Witham, Superintendent of West Bloomfield Schools added Greater West Bloomfield to the list of communities celebrating our great state. Dr. Witham, along with a team of local educators, government officials, businesses, and community leaders put together a week of events highlight Greater West Bloomfield, the most revered event being the Greater West Bloomfield Michigan Week Community Awards Breakfast, which has become a Michigan Week tradition in Greater West Bloomfield. Michigan Week has since grown from one week of festivities, to a month-long celebration of community achievement and unity. Pastor Jack Freed and Jeff Leib, two of the first recipients of Michigan Minutemen Awards at the Inaugural Michigan Week Community Awards Breakfast, sat down to discuss the history and tradition of Michigan Week in Greater West Bloomfield.
