Walled Lake Consolidated School District Superintendent, Ken Gutman, called state requirements for standardized testing (M-Step in particular) “a joke,” indicating that districts such as Walled Lake are providing internal testing in order to measure learning quality and learning loss, and that state-mandated tests that do not count toward evaluating educators, schools or student performance are a “waste” of valuable time that is better spent on instruction.
