Nearing the end of the three-week “pause,” issued in an epidemic order by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) on November 18, Governor Gretchen Whitmer details Michigan’s progress in battling the recent surge in COVID-19 cases statewide, as well as an outlook into the future and further pleas to Michiganders to follow COVID-19 safety protocols in order to prevent further spread of the virus.

Dr. Joneigh Khaldun, Chief Medical Executive at the MDHHS, provides a statistical update on COVID-19 cases in Michigan, as well as a report on how the three week “pause,” issued in November, is affecting changes in COVID-19 cases in response to a major surge in mid-to-late November.

Additionally, Lieutenant Governor, Garlin Gilchrist II addresses statistics regarding racial disparities in COVID-19’s impact on Michigan communities and the response to COVID-19 by the government in locations with higher populations of minorities.
