Gretchen Whitmer Addresses In-Person School, Attack on US Capitol| Press Conference, January 8, 2021

Governor Gretchen Whitmer and Dr. Joneigh Khaldun address the latest information regarding the State of Michigan’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Governor Gretchen Whitmer addresses the invasion of the U.S. Capitol building and threats at the State Capitol building earlier this week, and updates Michiganders on the latest COVID-19 statistical trends and the rollout of the State’s allotted vaccines. Additionally, the Governor announced a plan to return all Michigan students to in-person learning in schools by March 1, 2021.

Dr. Joneigh Khaldun, Chief Medical Executive at the MDHHS, provides a statistical update on COVID-19 cases in Michigan, as well as a report on how the “pause to save lives,” initially issued in November, is affecting changes in COVID-19 cases. In addition, Dr. Khaldun clarifies the State’s plans and goals for destruction of COVID-19 vaccines.
