Gretchen Whitmer & Jocelyn Benson Discuss COVID-19 & Election Information | Press Conference, September 16, 2020

Governor Gretchen Whitmer, Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, and Dr. Joneigh Khaldun discuss the latest information to the State’s response to COVID-19, as well as their preparations for the upcoming presidential election in November.

Governor Gretchen Whitmer addressed the recent legislation, passed by the State Senate and moving on the House of Representatives, that would allow the processing of absentee ballots at the local clerk level to begin the day prior to the election, as well as the latest information regarding Michigan’s response to COVID-19.

Additionally, Secretary of State, Jocelyn Benson, addressed the expected record voter turnout and absentee votes in the upcoming November general election, and provided information regarding the many options provided to Michigan voters to submit their ballot in the upcoming election.
